As the crazy UK heatwave continues, so do the sweaty commutes, and feeling like your makeup has disappeared by 9am.
I’m sharing my top 4 tips to help keep your makeup in place throughout the day.
Use less Skincare in the morning
Hard to hear for my fellow Skincare junkies I know. Too much moisture before makeup application is going to cause your makeup to slide. Step up your evening routine whilst stepping down your morning routine to ensure your skin is still getting all the nutrients it needs each day.
Invest in a Primer
I don’t use Primers everyday as I like a minimal routine. Most days I feel my moisturiser preps my skin enough, however on warmer days, I feel I need a little help from a primer to lock everything in place. Go for a mattifying primer if you get an oily t zone throughout the day (this will absorb any excess oil allowing your foundation to not be disturbed). If you don’t have oiliness go for a radiance boosting primer (this will hold your makeup in place whilst boosting radiance). Ensure the formula you choose is oil free.
Set with a powder
Powder is definitely the Marmite of the makeup world, but whether you love it or hate it, you definitely need it in this weather. Use a light dusting across your base makeup to set everything in place. Opt for a smaller powder brush to control how much you apply. Oilier skin should opt for an oil control formula whilst a drier skin type should opt for a hydrating powder formula.
Exfoliate
Be sure to exfoliate your skin at least twice a week! During the warmer months, our skin holds onto surface dead skin cells a lot longer, creating an uneven base for our makeup to hold onto. Applying makeup onto freshly exfoliated skin creates a smooth, long wearing finish. I love to create my own scrub by mixing buffing grains into my cleansing oil.
